How a leader thinks, communicates, makes decisions and shapes culture stems from their leadership identity: who they believe they are and who they believe they need to be.
What if leaders are owning the wrong identity?
We all have a Mask: a fear-based, fictional character of the mind that offers thoughts, feelings and actions we would not consciously choose. Over time, the Mask can project itself onto our identity so completely that we mistake it for who we are. It can then influence how we lead, limiting our confidence, judgement, relationships and effectiveness.
I do not believe leaders need fixing. The Mask is not who they truly are. My work helps leaders develop greater awareness of the conscious and unconscious parts of their leadership identity. By learning to recognise and reject the Mask, they can regain conscious choice, rediscover their true identity and lead with greater confidence and authenticity.
